Tapputi-Belatekallim (c.1200 B.C.E.) is the world’s first known chemist; her work as a perfumer is mentioned in a cuneiform tablet dated around 1200 BC in Babylonian Mesopotamia. She distilled and filtered her ingredients in what is the oldest known use of a still. She was also an overseer at the Royal Palace, indicated by her title “Belatekallim.”
“Tapputi” is a deep russet with slightly metallic shine.
